Naac Accreditation Process

How We Get Things Done: Step-by-Step Process

Higher education institutions (HEIs) in India are evaluated and accredited by the NAAC, National Assessment and Accreditation Council according to their performance and standard.

01. Institutional Enrollment & Preparation

Institutions are required to submit an Institutional Information for Quality Assessment (IIQA) and register on the NAAC portal. By gathering information and conforming to NAAC standards, the institution becomes ready for the accreditation procedure.

02. Submission of Self-Study Report (SSR)

The SSR is submitted electronically by the organization and comprises of:

  • Data Validation and Verification (DVV) is used to examine quantitative metrics (QnM).
  • Qualitative Measures (QlM) (evaluated by the peer team of NAAC)

03. Data Validation and Verification (DVV)

The quantitative data included in the SSR is examined and verified by NAAC. During this phase, any questions or clarifications must be addressed by the institution.

06. Validity of Accreditation &
Continuous Quality Improvement

Institutions must go through the reaccreditation process in subsequent cycles, as NAAC certification is only valid for five years (for cycle 1). To uphold their quality standards, accredited schools are urged to submit an Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) and to make constant improvements.

05. Assessment and Accreditation Decision

NAAC grants an Accreditation Grade (A++, A+, A, B++, B+, B, C, or D) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) based on SSR, DVV, and the peer panel report. An official accrediting certificate is given to the institution.

04. Peer Review Visit

An on-site evaluation is carried out by a group of specialists appointed by the NAAC. The peer panel assesses a number of factors, including governance, research, infrastructure, academic procedures, and student input. They communicate with stakeholders, students, and teachers.
